18th-century
wind ensemble
Formed in 1990 specially to
perform late 18th-century Harmoniemusik, Nachtmusique have
toured throughout Europe, America and Australia. Its members, specialists
in the field, also play with the best of the larger early music
ensembles: Orchestra of the 18th century, Freiburger Barockorchester,
Anima Eterna, Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, London Classical
Players, etc. Alongside the music of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven,
undisputed masters of the genre, Nachtmusique perform works of less
well-known composers such as J.C. Bach, Franz Krommer, Carl Maria
von Weber and Georg Druschetzky, as well as countless 18th and early
19th century arrangements of operas, symphonies and oratorios by
composers from Mozart and Beethoven to Rossini and Mendelssohn.
Their five CD recordings on the Glossa label of Mozart, Beethoven
and Krommer works have received wide critical acclaim. The newest,
Sei Sinfonia, by the “gallant” Johann Christian
Bach, will be released this year. |
